Scenic Views of Caramoan in Camarines Sur

Take a breather from the serious discussions in our egroup.

I gathered some beautiful pictures of the undeveloped, virgin beaches of the municipality of Caramoan in the northern part of Camarines Sur. It can be reached by car for more than an hour from Naga City.

In 1995, when I was first assigned in Camarines Sur, the only reliable means of transportation going to the place was the small pump boat (may katig), which one could take from Sabang, San Jose. I've been to the place twice, unfortunately not for a vacation and not armed with any pang-kodak. It's really a beautiful place. Caramoan is not an island but a peninsula, but it has several small islands. I went island-hopping to do ocular inspection of some lands being covered by the Department of Agrarian Reform. Water is very clear, you could see the coral reefs at the bottom of the sea. There is even a portion where water is too deep, you could no longer see the bottom but only the dark bluegreen color. It's like a channel where big ships could pass, and probably they did so in the past.

By the way, on my pump boat ride from Caramoan to Sabang during my very first trip to the place, there was Typhoon Signal 1! At least 1 pa lang naman. But you're out in the open sea (Pacific Ocean) for a large part of the trip.

Here are the beautiful pictures which I found from the website of skyscraper. I've been trying to look for equally beautiful photos of Camarines Norte tourist spots but unsuccessful yet. Still searching though. I found beautiful pictures of other scenic views in Albay, Sorsogon and Masbate which I will later share with you.

Note that Mayon Volcano can be seen in one of the pictures.

Tess,

may option ka to take a pump boat or land transport. sobra namang description ang carabao trail. but i didn't say that the road is as beautiful as the newly built expressway in subic (or is it clark?). iyan ang excitement, an mag-agi ka sa bangin, kaliwa-kanan. Mas ok kun nag-pump boat ka na lang, lalo na kun may baro-bagyo. Mas exciting. I don't know the names of the beaches. But Gota beach where GMA and her cabinet held their meeting a few months ago, and where the French Survivors reality TV shot one full season would be very beautiful. You probably were not able to visit that.
Dakol pa dyan mga isles/islets, aside from the white beaches along the coast of the mainland. One whole day ako nagpalipat-lipat sa mga islets. Hararumon but the water is very clear, you can see the corals and fishes underneath. Then there's a portion which is a natural channel - very deep, you can't see the bottom, dark blue green. Ahhh. magayonon. I'm sure, dai mo nadumanan an mga ini. Sana, nagpa-iba ka sa mga NPA duman!

HOy Tess, dahan dahan pag criticize sa Caramoan. You're hurting my feelings. You know my parents are from there. Altho I haven't been there since the '60s, and I have not seen the place again with my own eyes, that is our heritage. I'm still proud of its pristine and virgin beaches compared to those highly commercial ones!

HIndi ako galit. Just expressing my own views.

Hi Fetchi,

Mas gusto ko ang topic na binuksan ninyo ni Tess. Siguro Hindi niya lang nalibot ang Caramoan. Mababait ang tao doon at saka hindi ka magugutom doon. I've been there several times when I was still with COA. I used to travel there by boat, it's just less than an hour and a half. Beauty, that's the topic that I want to tackle.
