Post Reunion Chikahan: Plans, Activities & Everything

Apr 5, 2007

Hi Rudy,

Wow, we are in real time. Where are you? It's 8:03 am here in Orlando. Dallas is still far from Orlando but in case, let me know in advance so I can drive there or meet with you. I won't be able to make it this time, but how about asking our classmates to do another one next year for the sake of those who won't be able to attend this year? Not as elaborate as this year, but just the same a reunion. Siguro with ample time of notice, those that didn't make it this year will be there next year or next two years. How's that? Regards.

Hi Danny,

I'm reading your email to Rudy regarding a request for another reunion next year or two for those who can't make it this time. I'll remind and reinforce this to the group during the gathering.

It is 5:10 am here in SF. Boy, you are an early bird! I haven't gone to bed yet. I'm still unwinding from work by reading all the exchanges. It is really a blast from the past.

Happy Holy Thursday.

Hi Fetchie,

Good morning to you! Alam mo ba na when this thing started, I can't wait to open up my e-mails. Before, my clients where complaining dahil sabi nila hindi daw ako nag re-retrieve ng mga e-mails ko. Sige, tell them to plan another reunion next year or in 2009. To prepare for our Golden. Para mapag-usapan na rin kung kailan ang golden reunion natin. Regards. When will you visit Orlando? Kumusta mo rin ako ki Sylvia.

Hello Danny,

Can't you not really try to attend the reunion? Pilitin mo naman oh. It will be much more fun if you guys can join.

I'm giggling all alone as I continue to read your emails. Nakakatuwa talaga.

One of these days I'll visit you there. Don't worry. Actually I was there last year with Sylvia on our way to the Bahamas. I just didn't have your whereabouts and I was not sure if you were still in Fla. anyway, you're just few miles away. How about you? when do you plan to come to the Bay Area? Call me ok?

Advance Happy Easter.

Hi Fetchie,

Sayang pala. Now you have my e-mail address and my cell phone number is 407-538-1479. If I fly to California, I will inform you of course so we could meet. You do the same when you come to Florida. About the reunion, talaga lang na hindi ako makakauwi. One of my client who listed her house for sale with my office is coming to talk to me that same period. She will be flying from Chicago, kaya dapat nandito ako. This weekend naman, from New York naman ang bibisita sa akin. Anyway, please try to convince our classmates to plan another reunion if not next year then in 2009. For sure, I will make sure to attend provided we are given ample notice as to when it will be held. Regards and take care.

ED,

Spoke to Allan this PM. He suggest that we have another reunion here in CA. When are you coming back to the US? Let me know so we can plan it in advance.
We can promise you goodtime, good laugh - baka pag-alis mo dito, paus ka na. We can do that, di ba CA guys?

Danny,

I love to do just that but we don`t fly to Orlando. I guess the nearest will be, is to Dallas.
I`ll try to request a few Dallas flights in the future.

I hope to see you in the re-union.
Best Regards.

Irma,

I hope those of us here in North America can also plan a reunion. Either diyan sa Canada, sa California or kung gusto ninyo dito sa Florida. We will also invite those from the Philippines who have the capability to travel here like Ed, Toti sina Susan at Alot or kung sino pa man na pueding pumunta. Take care and regards.

Danny,

Sosyal iyang iniisip mo! You'll be the ones inviting those from the Philippines to join you? Merong may mga dalang placards na Danny, elitista ka na raw. You'll be limiting the affair only to those who can afford. Hmm...kelan ba iyan, para makapag-ipon na?

Toti

Daet Parochial School Class 67 said...

Hi Toti,

I hope I won't be misunderstood. I was trying to tell those members of DPS Class '67 who are in North America that we can also have a get together anywhere in North America as well. And of course those of you there who might want to join us are very much welcome. I know that there are several members of our class there in the Philippines who are very much capable of traveling outside of PI . I'm not being an elitist, just trying to appease myself, because I also would like to attend the reunion there, but due to previous commitments, just can't. But I'm sure, iyong idea ko is not a "wishful thinking lang'. Right Toti?

Danny

Apr 11

Danny,

Sineryoso mo naman. Binibiro lang kita! Mukha ka tuloy 'guilty'!

Yes, I understand. Susan for one is again raring to travel, although I think more than US, she wants to go to Europe. Baka si Irma ang mapuntahan. Ed travels a lot, Tess Cereno has a sister in Florida, so
pwedeng pwede syang makadalaw sa inyo. In my case, I'm not familiar with the geography of US - I have a sister in LA, a niece in Washington, Sis-in-law, nephew and nieces in New York and New Jersey.

O, Okay ka na ba?

Good Morning Toti,

I know it was just a joke. Pero hindi ba magandang idea din iyon? Anyway, the Daet reunion is about to happen soon. I wish that everyone will have fun there. Sana kahit sa skype, makasali ako. This morning, I made sure that I wake up early to be able to talk to you kahit nga ba hindi ninyo ako masyadong naririnig. But I can see you and hear you clearly. Masaya na rin ako. Nasobrahan nga ako ng kape, dahil I was in Ft. Lauderdale which is 3 and a hour hour away from Orlando, and I needed to be in a place that have wireless internet, kaya nasa Starbucks ako at 6:30 a.m. But it's worth it.

Goodluck and have a safe trip to Daet.

Daet Parochial School Class 67 said...

Hello Dan,

Canada! wow it is too cold there….Pwede sana kong merong Midsummer nights like in Norway, he, he, he…California might be a good choice kasi marami sila doon and more hands on deck…Florida is definitely nice and could be a second destination after California so everyone can travel from CA to Florida via a caravan and nine hours of travel by land…he, he, he. It’ll be fun. Hugsssssss! Irma, we don’t see you on Skype anymore…bawal nab a?

Hi Irma,

Thanks. I know Toti was just joking. But isn't it a good idea? Marami-rami din naman tayo dito. Now it will be easy to plan it because we already know where we can contact one another. Let's continue our communication with one another. 40 years is too long not to have contacts with our beloved classmates.

Now that we have opened the line of communication, let's not lose it. Regards to you and Violy if she is still with you.

Men,

Got a call from Joe S. today and was so excited about our Part 11 CA reunion. I told him that I'll try to check with Rudy ( who's Leo the avaitor? Rudy?) when he'll be in SF again. It will be nice if he is present. So until I hear from him, then we can move on with our plans. I'd like to have this pretty soon. I'm excited to see you again.

Btw, Joe is planning to be in the Bay Area and he said he will p/u the CD along with yours either at my house or work this weekend. So, I'll not mail it anymore.

Welcome back Fechie and it was soooo nice to hear your voice again. Joe and I were talking about our CA Reunion Part II. If everybody agrees we can have it here in Sacramento. Let's try to check everybody's schedule, like Leo, Allan and Danny (they said they want to join us as long as we give them ample time to prepare), Marybeth,
Herminia, and yourself. Joe wants it middle of May or whatever time you guys prefer. Please let us know. Let us welcome back our representative to the DPS Ruby Reunion. Thanks again Fechie.

Alot and Tess, thank you so much for your thoughtfulness. You guys never change, you're still the same girls I've met 40 years ago.

Toti, my friend, once again thank you for all you've done for this affair.

To the Daet and Manila Groups = A big hug from CA group and Dios Mabalos for everything.

Anyway, Mr. Aviator, when are you coming back to San Francisco? please let us know so we can have a Part II reunion in CA. Spoke to Danny last night, and we are trying to plan the when and where based on your and Fechie's schedules. We'll try it on a weekend, on a 3-day holiday preferably so everybody can attend and we can spend more time together.

Marybeth, enjoy your trip to Hawaii. Say Hi to Willy and the kids.

Alot, when are you coming to the USA. Please include CA in your itinerary. And one more thing, when will you start using your WEBCAM? We want to hear your sweet voice and we want to know more about you.

Irma, wake up please. We haven't heard from you in a looong while. Tama na yang tulog mo. Sobra na. Hehehe

Toti,

We viewed the CD again with Sylvia Villafuerte, another La Consolite and few friends and they were so envious about us having such and what a good turnout it was. I have proudly reiterated that the next time will be much better. So we better stand up to it, guys.

Danny- where are you now? Don't take too long of a drive in between stops, ok? Baka lalong malagas ang buhok mo. He-he-he! Biro lang. Stay safe and enjoy Marilou's visit. Say hi for me. I'll send your VCD soon as I can. Hindi naman perishable yon, di ba?

Men and Marybeth- I had lunch with Joe S. today and at the same time chatted on the phone with Danny while he's cruising eastcoast freeways. He picked up the CDs and goodies for you. Bahala ka na Men to mail the VCD for Allan Mulligan. And btw Men, how come you have an enormous stocks of Pinoy jokes? Do they come up at the American judiciary? I have laughed so hard browsing through them. In fact, every time I get those I copy and save them in my file. So now, between yours and others, I can come up with a book on Pinoy Jokes. Keep sending them. it is entertaining.

Alot- glad to hear more of you on-line. When are you planning to visit us here? Hope soon. Buti pala kayo noon at magkakasama parin kayo sa college. Me? I never had the chance to see them nor heard of them til I joined the 20th reunion. And still didn't get to see all. Thank goodness for this Ruby reunion. At last nakita ko si Bert, Toti, Elmer, Baby, Melit and others.

Tess- any more kakalogan from you? I miss that hilarious speech you shared us. We should nominate you for Outstanding Stand-up Comedian. Up to now, I talked about you having a 160 degree turn around. For the better of course! keep us laughing ok?

Bert- haven't heard from you lately. Love to read your "brainful" messages. Say hello to Marie and Bruce for me.

Beth and Willy- are you gearing up for the anniversary trip to HW? Dahan dahan lang. Baka makarami ( ng kain. OOOOppppssss! Not that! Kayo ha, your minds are in the gutter!!). Basta enjoy and we'll plan the Part 11 CA reunion when you come back.

Irma- mukhang very busy ka? Balita nama dito o'. Busy yata ang beauty natin. Take care and throw us some tsismis here.

So long friends. Ingat lang kayo.

Greetings!
hello, dear ones, i'm usually sort of isolated during weekends..unable to check /respond to emails..
but i enjoyed reading today, Monday, the 49 emails received during the weekend.
thank you guys, for being active again!

i'll make it up by giving a kilometric response..on various items:

danny -
sorry i wasnt able to contribute to your reading materials during the long drive - but our classmates' mails have surely kept you good company. hope you found a driving range or two during the long trip. that's a better way to stretch and revive your focus. double cappucino from starbucks are fine, just don't get coffee overdose, otherwise there' might be a nervous driver down the long and winding road..he..he.. hope the long trip was smooth and uneventful.

alot-
i join them in expressing personal delight in seeing you in the e-group (pls keep it regular)-
and in saying that your pili clusters are as sweet as you are..!
my wife wants to order a fresh batch.. pls, let her pay..she had enough 'libre' already.

men - as for the DPS award nominee..I fully agree with you.. will expound on my next mail.

cheers!

HI guys,

Our emails and exchanges are truly addictive! It has become part of my daily activities now to read your emails as soon as I get to work and before I hit my sack at night. I enjoyed them immensely and sometimes in my solitude, kung walang magawa, I re-read the emails. Naka-ka-homesick tuloy. SIge na nga! Let's see each other again in 2 years!

Bert-I acccept your period of hibernation as long as you keep giving us your kilometric messages from time to time.. Sarap talagang basahin. Yeah, I'm surprise myself that we never bumped into each other while in Naga during our college days. In fact, I had a suitor Atenista but the nuns at Sta. Isabel did not approve of him. Alam mo na pag-interna, the nuns are always in your face.So hindi ko rin pinansin! Mestiso sana! And every time we had a dance event at school, we always end up with guys from ADN. Sobra naman kayong magtago no Toti! Buti na lang, baka hindi pa ako naging nurse.He-he.

Danny-where are you now? Are you drving back to Fla. yet? It was nice to hear your voice again when Joe S. called you on the phone and had me talked to you during our lunch meeting. Iba na ang boses mo from the time we last met. More of a bedroom voice na. Iba na talagang pag-yumayaman! If you are still driving, stay awake and be safe. How's driving condition there? It is getting too hot here in SF. I leave my windows open even at night and now using electric fan. I hope it will not be hotter during the summer. Wala naman ibang nagpapainit! He-he-he.

Joe S- loved your black Corvette! If I only had the time, I would have requested for a spin. Next time na lang. Thanks for the lunch and for driving all the way from across the bridge to pick up the CDs and the goodies from Alot and Tess. I still have not heard from Rudy S. re: his SF flight schedule.

Rudy-where are you these days? Are you in hiding? We need to know your next schedule flying to SF. We want to have a part 11 of the CA reunion with your presence Capt. So, pls. let us know soon. Danny will need plenty of notice so he can join us too.
Anyone, if you hear from Rudy, pls. tell him he is wanted.

Marynat-wishing your surgery will be smooth and a speedy recovery. I'll include you in my prayers. I'll be available at all times for you for clinical advice if you need my help. Of course, free of charge! You will have to be extra careful now with heavy lifting. Take care.

Men-what are you up to these days? Love your little commentaries. Nakakatawa! Are you guys planning to visit Daet in 2008? What month? Hopefully it will coincide with our family reunion in July. Then I can join you too.

To the Manila group-buti pa kayo mag kikita na naman kayo. Inggit ako! Pls. extend my hello and get well wishes to Marynat when you visit her.

To Irma, Violeta and Glen-balita naman diyan. O kaya tsismis!

To the Daet group- did you have your outing already? I'm sure it was lots of fun. There might be a slim chance I may see you again come ist week of June. If I can't find a nurse volunteer for our medical mission to Bohol, I might be force to go even for just a week. If that happens, I'll try to see you even briefly. We'll see.

It's getting too late (or rather early) here so I better sign off now. Gigisingin na naman ako ng pukpukan dito sa bahay ng mga construction workers. I'm having an extension done in my house this time.

Bye now and my best to all.

Fechie
ps-as I'm writing this email, I see new messages coming from Bert, Rory and Toti. Anong oras ba diyan? It's 4:40am here Tues.
Fechie again.

Fechie,

Nothing much, just reviewing hard for my forthcoming exams - if I make it to the top 3, I would be getting 3x of what I do now. Yes, we are planning to go back to the Philippines in February 2008 if plans do not miscarry (again!) and right now our group consists of Joe, Dan , Ningning and myself- why don't you join us? (My family reunion is in November 2008).

Will definitely include Marynat in my prayers and hope for her speedy recovery.

Once again, thank you for bringing the goodies (from Alot and Tess) and the VCD from Toti. And thank you Joe for bringing them to me. Appreciate it very much.

Take care girl - make sure to take your beauty rest, ikaw rin. Hehehe

Bert,

I'm actually the opposite. I do not go to bed until 4 or 5am and sometimes I get carried away reading our classmates email and before I know it, it is morning already. But I also don't get up til about noon. I'm not a morning person at all! I love to sleep in. Kaya nga all my appointments are noon or later. Otherwise, it will be a great sacrifice on my part. The only time that I rise early is when I have to teach. It is twice a week but I took time off this semster since I had to go home to the Phil for that wonderful reunion. Had I skipped it, hindi sana kita makikita. Nag groovy ka pa naman! What's your secret?

Goodness gracious Guys, I thought I would never get to the end of all the emails. This should teach me not to snooze too long. Anyway, it was very entertaining going over everybody's exchanges.

Let me start by wishing MaryNat a speedy recovery. Hope things go smooth after your surgery.
To Emily, please extend our condolences even if it's late.

To Alot and Tess...Maraming salamat for the goodies. The pili clusters were sooo good. You notice, it's past tense, kasi naubos agad. Kaya naman pala masarap...home made! Humanda ka pag uwi ko next time. Thanks for the pretty scarf and bracelet. I'll be wearing them this summer.

Fetchie, thank you for bringing us the pasalubongs. Joe brought it to my house on Saturday. Sorry it took this long to acknowledge. I had one of those weekend from hell. Unexpected company of 20..no kidding! My daughter in law's baby shower, a turnaround trip to Long Beach on Monday for a 3 hour seminar on CHF, which I slept through half of it. Then the Nurses week celebration. This is actually my break. It's 2300,I'm waiting for the primerib to cook so I can take it to the night shift, the last of 3 trips to the hospital. My way of thanking and celebrating Nurses week with the staff. From one Flo Nightingale to another, keep the candle burning my friend. Let me know when you find our elusive aviator so we can plan our next get together.

Thanks to all your well wishes for our Anniversary. It's hard to believe it's been 34 year. There's no secret to it Toti. It's good old fashion LOVE. You have to be crazy in love, to wake up each day, with this "not-so-perfect-guy-after-all", still beside you for 34 years and feel happy. To give up some of your hopes and dreams and not regret it .... you must be in love. Now, maybe a secret ingredient we share is laughter. Willy can always make me smile and laugh.

Danny, are you seriously thinking of going home next year ? Men, we actually have a family reunion in the planning stages for May 2008. Unfortunately, the date is set to my uncle's death anniversary so I can't change it.

I have to wrap this up. It's already 3 in the morning. I'll email you guys from Hawaii.

Hi Marybeth,

Happy Mother's Day!

Joe said why wait till 2009 for our next reunion, so I said it's fine with me if it will be in Feb. 2008, Men said she is OK with it too kaya nagkaroon ng ganoong usapan. The point is, since we were not able to attend this year's 40th reunion, we should schedule one where all of us in North America will attend. Kaya depende sa magiging consensus ng lahat. But isn't it very hot during May in the Philippines. Ako, I don't mind it kasi sanay kami sa init, Floridian ata ito. By the way, when are you bringing your apos to Disney World here in Florida? Just let me know, I will be your tour guide here.

Aloha from Hawaii,

This will be our last day in this beautiful Island, then we head back home tomorrow. Oahu is commercialized with all the amenities of a modern city, however, the beach is a good 10 to 15 minutes walk from the main street of Waikiki. I wonder why we did not do the same with Boracay. The sand and shoreline is far more superior and it could have been planned better. I have experienced Boracay in the early 80's when there was no electricity, no concrete buildings, and only motorcycles for transportation. The place was pristine. We enjoyed night walks on the beach under the moonlight. Well Oahu is paradise for tourists, but for me, I would have preferred the old Boracay.

It looks like I did not miss out too much this time.

Men, bilib ako so searching ability mo. De kalidad pa. Fetchie, how much is the fee? Dapat may discount kasi, may missing parts.Ha! Ha!

Fetchie, Men, Pano ba yan, we all are planning to go home in 2008 for family reunions, but at different times. Lets explore this more on our next meeting.

Rudy, where are you? We're waiting to hear from you and plan our next get together on your next trip to SF.
Danny, how much time do you need to be able to join us in California?
Joe keeps in touch by phone with everybody, so all we need is Rudy's scheduled flight to SF.

Toti, the CD and the new photo gallery is great work. My family enjoyed watching it with me. I cannot thank you enough for what you continue to do for us. It is also refreshing to get a snapshot of politics there from your perspective. Like Ed, I have given up on it for sometime. I was never much into politics anyway, but when you see the movie industry taking over, all you can do is pray that our country and people will not suffer another set back during their term. I know of some who share the same passion you have for our country and politics, so I hope you're right about this election.

MaryNat, it was wonderful that Toti was able to add your pictures in the photo gallery. Seeing is believing..... you do look good after back surgery. You haven't changed much. Like all of us, just a few pounds heavier.

Danny, tapos na ba ang tourist guide? I'm sure Marilou and her hubby enjoyed their trip. Private tour guide and chauffeur pa. What a treat. Don't worry, pag retired na kami, we will bring the apos to Florida to meet their Lolo Dan. He! He! Baka magsisi ka.

Well guys, Willy is taking me out on a date for dinner, and entertainment. I don't know if you heard about the Society of Seven group. They are Filipino singer/comedians and they were performing at Bally's in Las Vegas before.

Hugs and misses to everyone,
Marybeth

Hi Marybeth
I stayed in Hawaii for a year in 1976 in a place called University of Hawaii with the East West Center. I cannot forget the first time I travelled there, via Pan Am, remember that airline that charges you US$ 5.00 for a glass of whisky…wow. Sigapore Airlines must be so confused why they charge passengers for their drinks. Yes, I was one of Pan Am’s last transcon passengers, he, he, he. Real oldie ha! Honolulu was a really great place. I remembered the couples in their Aloha dresses and white pants strolling along Waikiki. I hoped that you visited the Ala Moana which still existed since my last visit in 2003 with my wife. Ang ganda pa rin ng Waikiki beach noon but it has really changed a lot by now. I would agree with your feeling that Boracay must be better now. You can also try Amanpulo here. Mas maganda ang Hawaii earlier. I saw a segment of Hawaii-Five 0 being filmed in our school (UH) with Steve McGarette being powder puffed everytime he boxed someone, else his wrinkles will pop-out in the camera…he, he, he. The Polynesian Cultural Center was still on at the last visit and I hope that the Luau tradition has continued since it was popularized by Elvis Presley in Blue Hawaii…I love the Big Island the most…Kauai is likewise so exciting and breathtaking. Between you and me, there is no place like my old Hawaii. I love it so much and I guess that I have been constantly in search of Hawaii in all my travels. The next country that I began to like so much is Fiji…to a large extent, it has now become my Hawaii of yesteryears. But I could not find the King Kamehameha statue there. Gee, I am almost wanting to go back there now….Lots of hugsss and thanks for reminding me of Hawaii.

Toti,

You're right! Our "chatters" have gone into hibernation lately. I'm beginning to feel depressed and disappointed that I don't see as many exchanges on-line among us.Gising mga kapatid! We need some news from you. Balitaan time.

Thanks for your thoughtful greetings for the mother's day. I still consider myself a mother despite my loss and I'm sure my son would loved to keep it this way. So, thanks.

Bilib ako sayo! You had to go to Naga to vote. This may sound dumb but why in Naga? Can't you not vote in Manila since you're residing there anyway? Just curious.

The pictures look great. Lalo na yung extra! Ha-ha-ha! I even forgot to check or look at the landscape that Susan did. Big time na rin sis Susan in that field. School campuses na ang clientele niya.

My family is having a grand reunion in Daet on July '08. Hopefully, it will coincide with others planning to go home next year. I love to see you all again. However, if Roberto Manly is found and will be there, I'll be there too! He-he-he. Joke only po. Baka matakot si Manly!

Calliiiiing the Capt. Where are you Rudy? Nawala kang parang bula. We haven't heard from you. We need to know if you have any flights scheduled to SF soon. We 'd like to plan our next CA reunion with you. So pls. let us know.

Violeta and Danny- I've finally got the chance to mail the goodies from Alot, Tess and the class(VCD). You should be getting them from the mail soon.

Marynat-are you out of the hospital now? Take it easy and remember, no heavy lifting yet.

Hope all you guys are doing fine and in good health. To the "sleepy hollows", wake up and send us mails.

Eager to read your mails,
Fechie

ed and fechie,

i'll respond to your messages later tonight. i'm busy making preparations for a meeting tomorrow. Monday was a holiday, and the next day, many people in government were still out. So many of the things needed tomorrow are not done yet.

Wow Toti,

Ganda na pala ng Naga...The last time I was there was still 1990's. Ang laki na ng ipinagbago. Nakaka-inggit because Daet did not grow that much. Sayang talaga. Anyway... Heto preparing for my next mission whilst completing the deliverables for ADB before the week is over. Hugssss to our
co-grads....Advance happy fathers day! Over and out!

Sure Tess…siguro kailangan me description, me presyo, me volume and me description din ng potential buyers. Hindi ko masyadong alam ang market ng commoditing ito, pero alam ko talagang masarap. Meron na bang nutritional studies? Sige…hahanap ako pero do not rely on my words so much. Ang kailangan mo talagang traders….Hugsssss muna at mabuti ka pa nagkita na kayo ni Marynat. Kanina I got a call from Rudy Surla…pero sa totoo lang siguro nagkamali lang siya ng tawag…he, he, he. Preparing for my trip to Central Java on Saturday am to Singapore and Central Java. Hugggssss ulit.
