From Daet and to Daet With Love

SPORTS NEWS: BOBOY HAS FOUND HIS NICHE

Apr 19, 2007

This morning, Boboy texted me and asked me to buy, SAKSI, a tabloid and to read the sports section, because there was an article about his good performance as head coach of the Bicol's Best in the ongoing Asian Universities Basketball Championship Tournament. I don't know much about the details, because I no longer found a copy of the tabloid in the newstand when I went home this pm. Lolokohin ko sana si Boboy, kung sa Abante Tonite sa column ni Xerex sya na-feature. (This is the column which writes about sexual fantasies. But, I can feel his sense of pride in his achievement). As Mendy would say, “He has found his niche.” - hindi po iyan nitso ha!)

I advised him to keep the article and to ask Mendy to scan it and post it in the egroup so everyone will get to read it. Boboy is now with the Department of Education, teaching Good Manners and Right Conduct. Joke lang! He's handling sports. Before this, he worked with the Department of Agriculture. So, he's been a civil servant for quite a long time.

Congratulations Boboy!

What's the Asian University Basketball Championship?
Taken from an article written by RB Manlangit

The Asian University Basketball Championship (AUBC) Unity Cup which is the 5th this year was held in Camarines Norte. The AUBC unity cup aims to promote the sport and foster unity and cooperation between Asian countries.

The AUBC was established in 1998 by six people who have shown unwavering support to their respective countries. They are: Dr. Carl Menky Ching of China-Hongkong, Dr. Ekedjatmiko Sukarso of Indonesia, Mr. Shin Deng Pa of Korea, Mr. Lu Lian Jie of China and Mr. Park Hyun Mo of Korea.

The first AUBC games were held in Manila in 1998 hosted by the University of Manila. St. Francis College of Assisi of the Philippines won two successive AUBC games in 2001 and 2003, both held in Manila. The 4th AUBC games were held in Dumaguete City in 2005 with Myong Ji University of Korea emerging champion.

The AUBC unity cup staging in Camarines Norte this year was made possible through the support of Governor Jesus Typoco, Jr. and Congressman Renato Jojo Unico to the efforts of Dr. Abundio G. Palencia Jr., Provincial Sports Consultant of Camarines Norte, BAP regional director and 5th AUBC organizing committee chairman.

The participants in the 5th AUBC include: Hua Qiao University and Ji Mei University of China, Putra Riau University of Indonesia, Sungmo University of South Korea, the Bicol Selection, and Emilio Aguinaldo College, Rizal Technical University, University of Baguio, and University of Perpetual Help all of the Philippines.

Hi Toti,

I'm pretty sure no referee will dare make a bad call on Boboy's team,he,he.

Seriously, please extend my congratulation to him. I know that he is really into coaching ever since I've known him. Kasama-sama na siya ng mga panganay nating mga kapatid. Regards Toti. When can we skype with you?

BOY RIOS LOCATED

TO EVERYONE,

We found (or rather Mendy) found Edmundo Rios. He would have wanted to attend but the date coincides with the wedding of his son. He can be contacted via her daughter, Mia's cellphone no.0918-742-8655 and his son's email address: mjfrios_12@yahoo.com.

Residence: Blk 19, Purok 5D, Balic-balic, Sta. Rita, Olongapo City

He said, he'll send pictures of him and his family via the internet.

So, unti-unti ng nabubuo class 67. What about MARYNAT? Kelangan ng magWOW-WOWIE talaga nito.

Mendy should get the credit most. Until last night, she was calling us up to check if everything's okay and nobody else has backed out. She was coordinating things in Daet and then communicating them to us. Punong abala baga, the real MOST SERVICEABLE CLASSMATE!

Thanks a lot Mendy.

I'm still waiting for the picture that our good friend Edmundo Rios is about to send. He texted me just a while ago. Suspense. Same Edmundo pa rin kaya mukha niya? Abangan.

Duda ako sa "religious-looking" na yan. Ano kaya, long-haired or Franciscan-monk hair do? Abangan.

"Religious-sounding" pa siguro. This is his text message. Joe sending you my picture. Give my regards to everybody. GOD BLESS. - Edmundo.

Hi Bert,

Are you talking about Edmundo Rios? Wow, sounds different from the Ed I knew. Edmundo knows that having the name Ed carries along a heavy responsibility...he, he, he...biro lang. Have not teased you in a long while...and so is Edmundo! Hugsssss

dear everyone,

wow! all of a sudden, our egroup has become very active once again. nakakahilo nga, which or whose message to read first, and we have Tess actively joining the chat, while irma must have been very busy... sleeping (according to Men), we havent heard from her lately, so with Violeta. Danny, too, must be too preoccupied with his business.

From Daet, Mendy has provided the following updates:

The Daet group met with Susan, Mendy, Mila, Estring, Maning, Boboy, and Remo in attendance. Emily was not able to attend since she had to take care of her mother who was rushed to the hospital for pneumonia. Power was already restored when they had their luncheon meeting yesterday. There was no bombing by the NPA. It was only a rumor but a transmission line in Talubatib broke down and that caused the brownout.

The guys convinced the girls of the beauty of Calaguas Island, which they say is even better than Boracay's white beach. So, they have decided to have a summer outing on May 17. I'm not sure if I got the date right. May 17 is a Thursday, I wonder why it's on a Thursday, and not on a weekend.

I would have wanted to join them. I haven't been to Boracay, and if Calaguas Island is even better than Bora, then I won't regret anymore not being able to see Bora until now. Unfortunately, I'm already
going to Naga on May 13 in order to vote the following day. (I haven't transferred my registration to Manila until now, so this will be third election that I have to go Naga City to vote. Actually, that's fine with me, since it's also an opportunity to have a reunion with my former colleagues in the Department of Agrarian Reform. My staff will surely buy beer before the liquor ban para may inuman kami on the 13th.)

I'll ask Mendy what happened to the suggestion to help one of our classmates - Joe Chavez. Fechie was right, nothing definite was agreed upon during our luncheon meeting at Louie's Place.

Glad that Fechie traveled safely and has started rejoining the loop, even before getting fully rested.
Happy Anniversary Marybeth and Willy and enjoy your honeymoon in Hawaii! Just for curiosity, Tess, bakit all caps kadalasan iyong email mo? Di ba, pag all caps SUMISIGAW IYON! Thanks to Men and Rudy for all the kind words. Si Bert, mahilig talaga iyan sa magaganda, Tess and Men. Si isay na ngani Bert itong neighbor ta sa Bagumbayan, itong taga Colegio de Sta. Isabel? he, he.

Hi Guys,

Now that everybody is rested from the reunion and from whatever everyone was doing, open na naman ang egroup, any news from Marynat, Alot, Susan (kailan ka magopen ng computer mo), Imelda (paramdam naman), Irma (gising na), Violeta, and Danny (Insan, tahimik ka raw, diba everyday tayo nagskype, paramdam ka naman ulit). Mag-member na kayo sa VTT (Fechie, Marybeth).

To the Daet Group - enjoy your summer outing at the local Boracay on May 17 (why on a Thursday - is it a 4-day outing? Galing! (Note: The outing was cancelled because only a few would be able to make it. – Toti)

Toti - alalay sa beer during your reunion with former colleagues from the Department of Agrarian Reform. Di bale Toti, next reunion perhaps we can take time out to go to Boracay (real or local) Hehehe

What's wrong with Joe Chavez? I thought it was Teresita Quiozon who is in need? Shouldn't we do something about them?

Marybeth - Happy Anniversary and have a safe trip.

Tess is only over excited kaya all CAPS ang email niya. Di ba Tess?

Fechie - are you counting Bert's escapades - meron pa pala taga Colegio de Sta. Isabel.

Lahat ng sekreto niya lumalabas na. Bert - hala ka! Hehehe. By the way, Fechie, anong vitamins are you taking. Bilib ako sa stamina mo.

So long guys and take care.

Hugs,

Men
