Hello everyone,

I'm sorry if I created a little fuzz. I should have written the complete date. To clarify it once and for all, I turned 49 last February 2000. Looking at the pictures, ako pa rin ang bata dahil lahat sila tinubuan na nang buhok, ako hindi pa. Insan, nagpapatawa lang. At least no one can say "nagpapatawa hindi naman kalbo" . Seriously, I just can't hide my happiness because of this new closeness we are having. Imagine, after 40 years, and now we are back communicating. With all the hugs Ed have been throwing to me and to everyone who reads the e-mails, no reason not to be happy. I don't know with you guys, talking to you makes me feel very very young that's why my jokes is about being young.

Di ko alam, aktibista pala si Danny sa San Beda College. Sumisigaw pala siya noong - Marcos, Hitler, diktador, tuta! sa mendiola. Pero ngayon nasa land of milk and honey na rin siya! Ako naging aktibista when I was already working... and at Bank ofAmerica at that time. Another aberration, ata!

Hello everyone,

It's March 7 in the morning here in Orlando, Florida. As soon as I got home, the very first thing I did was to open up my computer to see if the e-mail from Toti which he said will be sent to me have been posted. And now, thanks to a Toti , the class of DPS '67 is practically in touch with everyone:

Fetchie- I heard from Raul Luzarraga the good thing you did for him the last time you were in the Philippines.

Rory- The four guys were : YOU, JOE, TONY and Me. It was in my last day there that I heard about your whereabouts. I could have called you at least, but anyway, I will do it next time I visit Manila. Take care of yourself .
Mendy- Thank you for what you did last April 1999. I was not able to talk to you that time, but I won't forget the thoughtfulness of our class thru you.

Also thanks for letting Baby/Nemia know about my being in Manila. At least I got the opportunity to meet with Toti, Susan, Alot and Baby even in a short notice.

Rudy- I have been asking about your whereabouts for a long time. The last time I inquired about you is thru a Colonel in the AFP (Col. Samonte). He said that you have retired already and perhaps in the US.

Myrna and Renee- How are you two?

Toti- Thank you man!

Dear Danny,

I'm glad to hear that you're back safely there in Orlando. I hope you
can come back for the reunion in April. You're your own boss, anyway.

It's really nice renewing ties with old (literally, figuratively, etc)friends. Tomorrow, Saturday, I think we're seeing each other again at the birthday party of baby's husband in their las pinas residence. Kapitbahay pala nila sina Bert Padrigon.

I think there are still many others we haven't gotten in touch with - remember Lina Angeles, Teresita Azana, Nestor Chavez, Rudy del Valle, Roberto Manly... I hope they're all doing well.

Let's all continue to renew and nurture these friendships!

Hi Toti,

The reason perhaps why you never heared from me when I was in college was because I was deep in my involvement as an activist in Mendiola during the time known as the First Quarter Storm. During school breaks, instead of vacationing in Daet, I found myself doing political teach-
ins in places like baryo Loma de Gato and Prenza in Bulacan. That was a time when instead of smoking Marlboro, I would go to a small baryo store to ask for a piece of paper to wrap tobacco to smoke. After school breaks, I buried myself in studies only because the monks of San Beda were trying to get a good reason to kick me out of the school, and the only way was my academic grades, but they never succeeded and I graduated from that school. San Beda experienced the first and perhaps the last protest graduation during my time. You met Atty. Alvero in Makati, he was one of the members of the organization I started then. He went underground for a year and I am really glad that he survived the ordeal and is now a successful practicing lawyer. Actually after we met that afternoon, I met with few more people in Greenbelt who wanted to know how I turned out. Some of them wanting to know how we managed to organize such a "core" group that Mendiola got open everytime there is a demo. By the way, one prominent member of my group then is Atty. Arno Sanidad. He is a Human Rights Lawyer I heard. Anyway, I'm telling you all these so as to account for my whereabouts after we graduated from DPS and the reason why we never saw one another until our mini reunion in Makati. It was not that we wanted to cut off our acquaintances after HS graduation, it was because we had other callings then. Toti, what you have done for our class is something else... I love you for this.

HIGH SCHOOL ESCAPADE

Toti,

Can you refresh me on the definition of History in Mr. Idnani's class? I'll be very honest with you, I don't have the slightest memory of it na. O baka naman absent ako ng ituro niya ito. Saka iyong definition ng State ni Efren. (Don't worry Danny, Susan is the only other classmate who still knows the definitions by heart!)

Mahirap talaga pag kapitbahay mo ang teacher. Hndi ata ako nakikinig kay Rabinder noon. I don't know if you know this. One time, a lot of our classmates and schoolmates decided to watch a movie and because there was a big number of absentees, Rabinder went to the moviehouse and started writing the names of those caught in the act ika nga. Nakakatawa dahil ng mamataan si Rabinder, nagkatakbuhan sa sine. Not contented, he went to our house and told my father that I was absent from school. Mabuti na lang dahil takot ako na mahuli, I told my father that I was not going to school that day. One lesson I learned then, always anticipate for things that could happen and I
was right about Rabinder that time. Ayaw niyang maiisahan. Just one anecdote.

Danny

(Danny, how did you know that Rabinder was there to list down the names of the students who were cutting class? What if he was there to enjoy the movie also? As Gary Lising answered when asked by a Jesuit priest - 'where were you when God distributed the brains?, he answered, "I was with you father!" - Toti)

Hi there Danny,

Nice way to recollect...however, in my book if you cannot remember Idnani's definition of history today, then it must be alright...after all, you survived more than 30 years without even using it! He, he, he...I am aware that many of us are still struggling with the Mr. Alz.... legacy...he, he, he do we or do we not have it? Better use the original definition by Dr. Gregorio Y. Zaide, the one who wrote our History book and a co-Alumna (circa 1930's) at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu. As long as you know-who, know-what is easy....Hugsssssss. Am almost ready to depart for Singapore then Jakarta then Medan and then Aceh on tomorrow at 2:00 pm. Guess Rudy has left for Taiwan already....wild guess, he's been so quiet.

Just to say, have a nice and safe trip to all places you will be visiting. In your free time, if you want to skype, I'll always be available for you. Leave a message and I will call you back as soon as possible. I know sometimes, after the day's work, it gets lonely in a hotel room ( assuming of course that you will be staying in a hotel and no one in your family is with you.) I have been there. Take care always.

Toti,

This morning, I made sure that I woke up early to be able to talk to you kahit nga ba hindi ninyo ako masyadong naririnig. (Ed, Tess and I at the Robinson's Galleria). But I could see you and hear you clearly. Masaya na rin ako. Nasobrahan nga ako ng kape, dahil I was in Ft. Lauderdale which is 3 and a hour hours away from Orlando, and I needed to be in a place that have wireless internet, kaya nasa Starbucks ako at 6:30 a.m. But it's worth it.

strong...we could not even hear the music of our laptops...and Tessie was getting mmmmm so she could not hear you well (me too!). Anyway, we were able to chat with Rudy too who I thought should know Teresa but could not guess her name...Grabe! It was a great meeting.....but really nicer because we have almost finished the CD. Hugssssss.

Thanks a lot Danny. Sayang, we couldn't hear each other very well last night (here, early morning there). We could see you though, .... we could see your CAP clearly! You had to travel 3 and a half hours just to be in a place where there's wireless internet. Wow, that shows us how much you value your long lost friends.

We'll enjoy for all of you who couldn't come for the Reunion. We'll be traveling by convoy. Tess will be driving her Revo, with Alot and me as passengers, Bert and family, and Rudy said last night that he'll be joining the convoy. I informed Rory this morning, so he could join, too.
We'll send the CD through Fechie. I'll tell the Bicol-based classmates that there'll be a Part II (just as there's a Scorpio Nights 1 and 2, Lord of the Rings I to III, Star Wars I to VI (?), or Shake, Rattle and Roll I to VIII). That's because they're not in the NOW section of the CD, except for some who were in the group pictures during the visit of Men and Fechie. I'll ask them to submit scanned or actual pictures of their families, for inclusion in the succeeding episodes.

Opps... if you can call Alot and ask her if my cousin Malu Yu was able to give my donation to her.

Stay safe din. Iyong mga pagkain nyo dyan, ingat. Iwasan iyong madaming chemicals. Siguro kaya ang daming may cancer dahil sa mga chemicals sa food natin and also the pollution. Good thing, many of us are no longer smoking, but we still have classmates who still smoke - Boboy, Maning, Jebong, even Fechie. Me, I quit four years ago. I used to smoke three packs a day, or even more if I have to stay overnight doing some work. Hope they can also quit the habit.

Hello all,

Not guilty. I send e-mails to Toti every now and then and as Men will attest, I'm always available for chat, di ba insan? I'll be driving from Orlando to New York starting tomorrow morning (a 20 + hour drive). Stay 2 days in the Big Apple and will drive to the Windy City ( a 12 hour trip). Then drive back home to Orlando via Memphis to see Elvis. All these driving will be done by me alone. Ganyan ako kabata pa. Anyway, as long as there is a Starbuck or Panera on areas I will be stopping, you will be seeing my e-mails and will be chatting with insan or joe if he can find the right button to push, he he. Where is Ed? I hope you are reading this e-mail. I will be a lonely cowboy on the road and I hope to read your motivating e-mails. Bert, I'm bringing my driver, pitching wedge and my rescue woods just in case there are driving range along the way. Toti, I have my laptop and every chance I have, I will check your gallery just in case you posted some new pictures. Marybeth, happy anniversary to you and Willy. Do you know that my girl was conceived in Maui? But I can't remember what I was doing during that time. Fetchie, am I to expect a copy of the cd as well? I didn't see my name being mentioned as one of the recipients. Alot, basa ka lang nang basa ng e-mail, magsulat ka naman ulit. Regards to everyone. 'till next e-mail.

For Danny,

Yes, I second the motion again what Fechie said. I hope you stay awake throughout your long drive. Walang pikonan ha, when you watch the CD. May special mention kasi sa imo. Ok, drink more coffee. Ah, I remember an anecdote regarding coffee. There was a time when two brothers of my brother-in-law, who were both college students then, were staying with me in Sta. Cruz, Manila. They were allowed to drink by their parents provided they drink in the house. So, occasionally they had drinking sessions with their barkada, who were all from Vinzons, Cam Norte. One time, I also drank a few bottles with them. After a while, one of their friends was already drunk but he still had to go home. So, I offered coffee. Yun pala, ubos na iyong instant coffee sa harong. No problem, according to my brother-in-law's youngest brod. He added soy sauce to a cup of hot water and added plenty of sugar. Iyon ang pina-inom, e lasing na kaya after one cup, sabi pa e, more coffee!! How about you, Danny, more coffee ? O dai bale kurni, at least may mabasa ka. According to Fechie, we should flood you with emails so you have something to read when you stop to drink and rest.

of DPS Class '67. What we have become after DPS days. So, Mabuhay ang DPS Class '67!!!! Take care Toti, I hope that the last election there, will bring the most needed changes so that Filipinos can once again show the world what they are really made of.

Hi Danny,

Wow, I can't believe you drove that many miles! I remember we use to do that when the kids were young.
If we could not get to state park by nightime, our next choice was a KOA. Willy would still do it for the grand kids, but my camping days are over.

The SOS in Hawaii is a second generation of the group. The original performs at Bally's Flamingo in Las Vegas. In fact, we watched them perform with Misalucha on our 30 years college reunion. Kaya lang, they lost Gary Bautista who was the guy with a thousand voices and irreplaceable. But we enjoyed the Hawai group too.

Don't worry, one of this days, we might surprise you with a visit. But before that day, take Beth with you when you come to our next mini reunion here. Has anyone heard from our elusive aviator? Mukhang nag hibernate na naman.

Men, hindi pa ba tumatawag si Rudy?

Fetchie, baka naman nag private rendezvous na kamo. Joke lang. Ito na lang mga recommedation ni Men ta certified single ....again.

Keep me posted if anyone hears from Rudy OK?

Hugs and misses,

Hello Ate Marynat,

Yes, my wife's cousin was no longer working at SEC when you assumed office there in 2004. Anyway, I'm ok here in Orlando, Florida. I left the Philippines to join my wife in late '79. I was in my law proper at San Beda when martial law was declared. I worked as a Medical rep. for almost 8 years before deciding to leave for the US. At first, parang trial lang. My mom would come for a visit every two years, however my dad did not have the opportunity to come to the US because his doctor did not allow him to travel due to his hypertension and heart problem. My wife is from Cubao, QC ( Beth Malixi). We have two grown up kids. My eldest, is a lawyer and my girl is in her 3rd year college, taking Advertising and Marketing at Loyola University Chicago.

Since 1983, I have been selling real estate and 14 years ago, I decided to open up my own real estate office and thanks GOD, I'm managing to stay afloat despite of the fact that the industry I've chosen is one where small offices like mine will have so much difficulty competing with those big ones like century 21, prudential, Remax, era. Gladly, I'm a member of DPS Class '67, proven to be a bunch of tough, dedicated, intelligent(? am I during HS? hinde ata), confident and above all exuding, with great personalities!!! Buhat ng sariling bangko. In short, magagaling na tao ang 1967 grads of DPS. Oh di ba Ate?

With your short 'musta' question, I've practically given you the outline of my life for... Ate Marynat, aaminin ko na ang tunay kung edad saiyo, kasi mas napapasama. Sabi ni Alot, what I meant of 49 is my birthyear, di lalo akong tumanda niyan. I'll be 2 years older than my real age if that's the case. So, the truth is - I was born in February 15, 1951. NOT A LEAP YEAR KAYA HINDI RIN AKO KULANG-KULANG. There you are guys, the truth have been revealed. I'm free AT LAST!

Napakadaldal ano Ate? Pasensiya na - ahente kasi. The similarity of a dentist to me is - both of us kumikita dahil sa bunganga, he,he,he. Tulad ng sabi nang aking misis - if your mouth is in your pocket, we could be rich by now kaso hindi. That's her way to tell me shut up without adverse reaction from me.

Sige Ate, mahaba na. Baka wala ng magtanong sa akin ng kumusta ka dahil iisipin nila napakahaba kong sumagot. Boring.. regards to you and your loved ones. Take care always.

Your kinakapatid (as my daughter would say it - your brother sent by God, )
