Hi Toti,

Thanks for the concern. Fortunately, I don't know of any acquaintance or relative studying at VA Tech. Another black mark for Asian Americans.

Hi Toti,

Yes, this is the US's worst. My daughter stays in Roanoke, about 20 minutes from Blacksburg, Virginia where Virginia Tech is. I also have two former Nepali colleagues who teach there...one is PhD in Organization Development (Dean, Entrepreneurship Curriculum) and another Phd in Mechanical
Engineering (Professor). They are all ok. Thanks God! But there is nothing wrong with being careful... Hugssssss to all.

Dear Toti,

Thank you so much for your concern. Like Ed said, this is the US's worst. Have a nephew and 3 first cousins who lives in Virginia. Fortunately, they are ok. Anyway, let's all pray for all the victims. Thank you and take care.

Gerald Joseph "Gerry" Mulligan (1927)

Mulligan was an important baritone saxophonist and one of the best-known exponents of cool jazz, a delicate, understated offshoot of bebop. He began his career in the mid-1940s as an arranger for Gene Krupa and Claude Thornhill and played on the historic Miles Davis nonet recordings in 1949. He gained considerable success with the quartet he formed with Chet Baker in 1952, and he led ensembles of various sizes thereafter. Mulligan served jail time after he was arrested in 1953 for what?
