Thank you from Chi-Chi

To All My Classmates From DPS '67:

There are no words best to say except that I was very happy to know that most of you still remember me as I was in Elementary and High School years. I really enjoyed the company ,the laughter, the memories and of course, the Authentic Filipino Foods that I miss so much. Thank you for the welcome and despedida party you all gave us in Daet and Makati Greenbelt as well. I will treasure it as long as I live.
If anyone noticed that my pictures from High School are not included, can I ask someone who still have a copy of the yearbook? So that my face will appear in the 1967 and 2010 individual pictures. As you see, even some pictures of those who passed away were included. I will really appreciate that if anyone can give it to Toti. If I have the time to look for some old photos, I will send some to Toti. Although, it will take a while, pardon me, I honestly do not know where to find them.
Last 1987, I saw very few of you, if I am not mistaken, I think they were Yoly, Anabelle, Mendy and Estring. I also went back to the Philippines last 2000, when my mother turned 80 years old. Then it was followed in 2005 and 2006, when I took care of my dying mom. Then I saw some of you in my mom's funeral. I did not have the chance to thank you all who expressed their sympathy who came personally and thanks once again for the flowers that the DPS Class '67 sent. I also want to express my deepest sympathy to Men's husband Rene, Tiong Digoy, the brother in law of Toti, and to the husband of Anabelle, and the recent death of Jose Mari Chavez. May God bless their souls. I am not very sure if I can still travel, as my Diabetes complications are getting out of control. All my vital organs are already affected. Insulins like Humalog and Lantus Glargine do not affect that much anymore because I developed a resistance to insulin. If God permits me to see you all again, then it is a blessing. I love you all deep from my heart with sincerity......

LOVE,

CHICHI VENIDA BARON

Hi Men,

Glad to hear some words from Chichi. I deeply regret that I was not able to meet her during her recent visit. Our timing was just not matched. Ang tagal ko pa naman na hindi siya nakita! Hopefully, there will be another time that we can meet. I'm doubly glad that she enjoyed the company of our dear classmates and gustatorily satisfied with the local dishes. Pls. tell her that I will include her in my daily prayers that she will be able to overcome the challenges and complications of diabetes.

With regards to her high school picture, unfortunately, I will not be able to help her in this as I'm in the same situation as her. I have lost all my pictures from my younger days including high school. I don't know where my mother kept them. I'm just happy that some of you have them and able to share thru the internet capability.

And how are you? We haven't had the chance to get together again. Hope is well with you. Let's plan on having a get together sometime soon. Tell me when your best time. We missed you at our class reunion. The ladies seemed to have been outnumbered by the guys at the Daet reunion but not in Manila. We all had fun though.

Hope to see you soon either in SF or Sac. Take care.

Hi Fechie,

Senyor Joe and I had been planning a potluck get together but have no idea where and when. Told him to further discuss this when you, Marybeth and Willy are back from the Philippines. Also heard from Chichi that Susan is coming, but did not mention when. Perhaps Marybeth can tell us. So all US/Canada based classmates and those who are planning to come to the US, please let us know your availability so we can make plans. Know that you are most welcome to visit us anytime

Saw all the pictures and am sure everyone had a fantabulous time.

Ingat my friend and my best to Dante (siya pa rin ba? hahaha joke only)

Hi Men,

Sounds like a great plan! I'll wait to hear from others and hopefully, the US/Canada folks will come up with the date and the place soon. Perhaps we can coincide it with Susan's and maybe the Capt.'s visit too.

Life here is back to usual. Work remains hectic and not well compensated ( i think!). I wish I could take some more time off and be away for a real vacation. IHow I wish I can afford to take early retirement. Mabuti pa ang iba diyan, relax na relax na!

Anyway, I'll give you a ring if by any chance we will be in the area. Dante says hello.

Take care,

Mr. Canela (Dr. pala) naconfuse mo na naman ako sa itinerary. Talagang busy traveller ka. When are you gonna be in SF? Please give us your tentative or exact date if possible so we can contact our classmates here. We're also waiting for Susan's schedule, would't it be great if both of you come at the same time? We'll try to meet in SF kasi medyo malapit sa lahat. To all US/Canada based classmates, please let us know your feedback if everyone is agreeable to that.

Regards to Glo and the kids.

Hi Men

Just back to Manila from Malaysia / Singapore trip.

Have been hesitant to include myself as U.S.-based as I find myself most of the time in Asia (biz. trip) still..
But in response to your question, will be back to SDO by 2half May.
Should be there until most of Sept.

Im not 100% sure if can drive to SF from SDO (we did it last year, though), but I'll monitor the dates you all will agree at, and will see if can just pop up to join the fun..

Hi Bert,

Another Dr. Canela ka na rin ha (frequent traveller). LOL

Totally forgot na dual citizen ka na. (Hindi yong isang citizenship - Senior). I know SDO-SFO is about 8-10 hour drive (longer than going to Daet). Malayong viaje baka pagdating sa SF, eh matulog na lang kayo, hehe. Heard that Southwest Airlines is having a promo right now about $49 or $99 one way within California. Will further check on that and let you know. Hope our Captain will be in SFO around that time too. Paramdam naman, Sir Rudy. Will try to reconnect with Allan Mulligan in LA (mahirap ang guapo, selosa ang asawa). Have contacted Jeffrey Masocol (first year) who is in SF, Herminia dela Cruz-Perea -SF (hope you can join us), Lourdes Serra (Grade 4)- Mountain View (who promised to join us). So far, haven't heard from Marybeth/Willy, Danny, Rey, Ningning, Glen, Irma - just in case I missed anybody please pardon me, medyo mature na kasi. LOL

Thanks again, my friend and please extend my warmest regards to Marie and the boys.

Dear Toti,

Feels good to be back. Quit working and right now just enjoying my life while I still can. In fact, had a date last Valentine's Day (guess who? King Tutankhamun!) LOL, akala mo kung sino na ha. Senyor Joe calls up every now and my favorite cousin, Danny and I do it on FaceBook. Thy're fine and dandy.
Chichi was ecstatic about the reunion and she might join our CA get-together. She would call me 4-5 times a day and talk about it. She would tell detailed stories like you do which made me feel like I was there too. Please continue doing this. Really appreciate what you do for our batch.
Like I said before, YOU'RE THE MAN! Chichi's email address is pwerabale@hotmail.com.

Definitely, we'll have a lot of kodakan and will surely post them right away.

My best to everybody.

Hi Men,

Glad to have you back in circulation. Willy and I am taking another vacation to recover from our trip to the Philippines. One of the bonus of being semi-retired; I get to choose when to go back to work.

It was exciting to see Chichi after 43 years. Kalog pa rin at maraming kwento. Some things don't change.
A few of us got together at our house hoping that Chichi would show up....and like a real trooper, she did!
I'm glad she enjoyed because that means she will be joining us again.

Anyway, Susan mentioned that she will be coming to the US, but I don't know exactly when. Maybe Toti can find out for us.

This is a great idea, count us in.

Love,
Marybeth

Hi Marybeth,

Glad to hear na both of you are in. So perhaps we can start counting those who are interested to join us.

Chichi was really excited to see you guys and I guess she will start to communicate with us soon.

Ingat and my warmest regards to Willy and the kids.

Here's the message from Susan,

I need second opinion ng doctor.

Thanks and regards.
