Stand By Me

Contributed by Bert

A Must See!

This is very well done!

Below is a link to one of the best pieces of sound engineering work. It's a composite audio/video of song whereby additional tracks were laid in by different singers and musicians from different places around the world. The finished product is tremendous! The song itself is that classic standard "Stand By Me" originally released in 1955 by The Staple Singers and released again in 1961 by the Drifters.. So turn up the speaker volume and Click Here.

Bert,

Beautiful, I love it.
I'm reminded of a lot of things - the Professor playing the drums in the subway in the movie, The Visitor; the blind beggars singing and playing the guitar along the sidewalk of EDSA leading to the GMA-Kamuning MRT station; and the old man who played kundiman songs in the piano at the Atrium of SM MegaMall. Suddenly a crowd surrounded and applauded him.
And he went on to play the piano as if he were performing in a concert,
and we continued applauding him after each piece..

Really, I love the music and the visuals. i'll surely play this again and again.

thanks.

Hi Bert,

I enjoyed watching and listening to your five minute break. It's a masterpiece of some kind and made by a genius.

I still remember a time during our third year in DPS. I used to listen to our local radio at night. It's a program that played the top hits of the time. We happened to have one favorite singer. The singer was Jerry Vale. You still remember his voice?

I have a collection of old time favorites from time mags. It;s a compilation of top hits of the 60's and 70's in 2 CDs. The first song is "Stand by Me" by Benny King. I always carry it in my car as it is also the favorite song of my foster kid. Unfortunately my autistic foster kid could not talk. He use to hum it if ever I play the song.

Regards to you and your family. I always wish your family the best of everything.

US President Franklin D. Roosevelt Forbids Hoarding of Gold (1933)

Executive Order 6102 required US citizens and businesses to turn in all but a small amount of gold to the Federal Reserve in exchange for $20.67 per ounce. It came in the midst of a banking crisis, when the stability of paper currency was in doubt. Consequently, many tried to withdraw their money and redeem it for gold, which was considered safer. However, there simply was not enough gold in the US—or the world—to cover the nation's debts. How many people were prosecuted for violating the order? More... Discuss

Ruth Elizabeth "Bette" Davis (1908)

American screen legend and two-time Academy Award-winning actress Bette Davis made her Hollywood debut in 1931 and, after several flops, won acclaim for her role in 1934's Of Human Bondage. Her electrifying performances and intense characterizations of strong women made her a prime box-office attraction between 1935 and 1946, but her popularity declined thereafter. Undeterred, she launched a comeback and continued acting until shortly before her death. Why did she disinherit her daughter? More... Discuss
