The Wonders of Cyberworld - egroup, blog, skype

March 3

Hi Toti, Glad to be able to sign up with your egroup. Loved the pictures and looking forward to more in the near future. Thank you for making the effort to create one. It sure makes me feel connected despite distance. Soon as I figure out how to send pics in this web page, I'll send some taken during my visit last month in Daet with few of our classmates.

On BLOGGING

April 18

Hello Toti and all the rest…

As I was reviewing all the stuffs, tsismis, jokes and asaran that we have on all the e-mails we wrote to each other, it now appears that we have already accumulated a lot…these exchanges can easily be transformed into a blog that all of us can contribute. So how about planning a blog…I can contribute a line or two (plus arts…digital arts) lines per week or something like this…Then men can write something about legal systems…some can write something about Daet…believe me there are many people in America and Europe (Germans and Belgians) who are keen to come and even buy properties in a place called Bagasbas…we will have many visitors in our Blog…I can also convince Google to put us in a pay per view arrangement if you like but we need to be online for a minimum of six months and we will have to ask everyone to visit the blog almost everyday…which will not be a problem. Think about it…and we can expand our craziness to the world….he, he, he.

Hi Ed,

It's 7:19 am Orlando time. I'm all for that blogging. Besides, our family is getting bigger and bigger. It will also give way for other members of our family like sons and daughters and in the case of the grandparents, even grandchildren will be able to participate and contribute. Anyway, we can still maintain our e-mail group. Sige nga Ed and Toti, simulan ninyo.

Daet Parochial School Class 67 said...

Wow, Ed, interesting! I like the blog idea. Maybe you also know of
other popular blog owners who can link us with them. That way, there
could be 'accidental' visitors.

Toti

Daet Parochial School Class 67 said...

Hi Toti,

Actually, we can set up the blog anywhere...but we need six months of airtime to be able to qualify for any traffic or pay per view incentives. The big boys would want to see our potentials first...so let us try...google should have very good blog sites but am not so familiar with them...look them up Toti and see which ones you are comfortable with...every blogsite has their own eccentric personality...we have to shop around first...

Hey guys,

Now that you are into Skype, I think I'll get myself set-up with one. My brothers had been using this for a while now but I had just been disinterested as I don't see the need for it. I'd like to see you and talk to you even at a distance.

Hi Danny (and Marybeth, Willy and others),

I gave the detailed instructions to Men in one of my earlier letters. Kaya lang sobra ang dami ng letters natin and we did not have the proper threading of the mails…Anyway, I hope Toti and the others can prepare a small summary of all the discussions and piece together the stories behind each of us…that’ll be a worthwhile project and in tandem with Myrna’s great archive then we can reconstruct (retrace) our humble starts…he, he, he. OK, here is Skype once more (Rudy, you may want to add dashes of technical advice here and there). Well, have a headphone, microphone and webcam ready (some laptops like mine and Rudy’s do not need these archaic (he, he, he) gadgets anymore), then:
1. Go to: www.skype.com

2. Download the latest version of Skype (for Windows or Mac). It is free so don’t worry…just be happy. This firm is now owned by e-Bay, so it is perfectly legit.

3. Install the follow the instructions. Accept when asked whether you read the EULA.

4. When installed and running, click Contacts. Select “Add a Contact”; in the blank, put “ecanela” (minus the quotes) so I can become your Skypemate.

5. Click Contacts again, select “Add a Contact”; in the blank, put “rudymsurla”; then “menvenida”;

6. If you are using POP mail clients (e.g., Outlook, Outlook Express, etc.) you can click Contacts again, select “Import Contacts” then Skype will look and automatically put all your friend who use Skype as your Skypemates…peanuts.

7. Those who liked to use the webcamera…go to: “Tools”, “Options”. Video (Beta)” and insure that the camera is working by clicking “Test Camera”.

8. One last note: laptop to laptop calls are free (anywhere in world), laptop to landline: cents per minute (so to avail of this, I suggest we deposit US$ 10.00 to SkypeOut).

9. That’s it!…Gee, Danny, I would have earned US$ 22.00 for this instructions, but for my classmates…..sige libre na lang!

Hugsssssss.

Hi Ed,

Just got your instruction for Skype. Thanks. It sounds pretty extensive but I think I can follow the instructions. I still have my marbles intact. Mag tsikahan na lang tayo. Never mind our jobs. This is what I seem to de these days since we had our egroup. Love it and am enjoying all the exchanges. Parang we are just near each other. Thanks to the technology and the cyberworld.

Dear Ed,

Now I know what the problem was with my skype camera - it is not compatible to Vista yet. Darn!

Men,

Try and get the driver from the internet. Check the trademark of the camera and Google the Vista compatible driver. With luck, you may be able to download it free. I know some sites but their for XP…you have to wait till I migrate to XP this coming June…Failing this, you can send me a ticket and I will fly there right now and help you out….B-class, please! Hi Toti,

Yes...you need mike and headphone as Skype minimum pero we can also check if your laptop really needs em. The whole is set is probably Php 3,000 (max) depending on quality. Bang and Olufsen headphones can cost as high as Eu 120 while those from China can go as low as US 3.00 depending on where you buy em...Yup, we enjoyed a lot on a Moundy Thursday...truly unbecoming of a Parochialite....Irma...she joined us...please ask her for a really sexy foto...she has one on her Skype...ang gan...oppsss, sexy pala (wag kang galit Irma). Swerte si Irma...Norwegian na, biyuda (from a Norwegian husband), maraming pera, no need to work (like you) and me boyfriend (hindi
confirmed)...balance of the wild tsismisan we had yesterday (Danny, Myrna, Irma, Rudy, and myself). Allan...couldn't get hold of him. I will try again this am. Malaswa, bawal yon ngayon...oo nga, I remember some of them...talaga naman! Good Friday Toti. Lots of hugssssss.

I had a wonderful chat with Erlinda de Guzman who took sometime before she finally remembered my coconut milk. She is well and happily settled in Florida with a nice husband and three kids, youngest is a girl of 16. She just came to Daet last June and may not be able to make it for our reunion. She was so surprised as she did not actually graduated high school from DPS. However she liked our group and would certainly be happy to be part of all of us. Her husband frequently visits Manila. She was looking for others in our group, notably: Fetchie (I gave her your phone number), MaryNat, Toti and Rudy. She remembers meeting one nice day a tall (a bit balding, my words…he, he, he) and seemingly window shopping guy in mall in Florida…whom she thought was _____ from her high school days in Daet? Guess who it might be?

Here are her coordinates:
Erlinda Lumucso (863) 453-0546 2776 Nautilus Dr, Avon Park, FL 33825

Wonderful Danny,

Many thanks…ligtas ka na sa Als…I really enjoyed chatting with you. Ok ka pa ring kausap and your Bicol has not changed. My Bicol is already bad because I am mixing it always with Bahasa (the language of Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore). Please send the foto of Merla to Toti as well as her latest phone numbers. I can call the US for free kahit gaano katagal…sarap din ng developments sa technology. In Chicago, we have Mita Llanes who is married to Caloy, problem is we do not have the telephone numbers. Sayang! Is it true that Boboy Vinzons also there? Why is it easier to locate those outside the country than those who are here…more so, in Daet (check out MaryNat, last spotted in Mercedes, kuno)….

Ed- glad you shared her my phone #. Otherwise we would still unlinked

By the way, I met Mita Llanes and husband Carlos Grecia about 2 years ago in Chicago when I was a representative from the Bay Area to the Bicol National Convention. I had their whereabouts then but misplaced it. I'll try to see if I can retrace them. Sorry.

God bless.

I called Vivian Celis number in Japan (81 06 639 1321) and got Rudy instead…Sorry Rudy…he, he, he we keep bumping into each other. Men is now happily on Skype and her only problem is how to make the camera works…but for now, you can try and Skype her…I tried Vivian’s number again and got a German saying the number cannot be called from international phones…she (the German in German language) continued to say…try using local phones instead…Wow…you cannot blame me for not trying…
