Greetings to October Birthday Celebrants


This greeting is late for one of the celebrants, just on time for another, and advance greetings for the rest.

In spite of the destruction brought about by typhoon Ondoy, let's take time out to greet our friends a happy birthday. May they continue to receive more blessings from the Lord.

I was able greet our Oct 2 celebrant last Friday. I sent him a text message, sabi ko masabaw an birthday niya because typhoon Pepeng was approaching the country then. Iyo daa, masabaw, dakol chaser, kulang sa pulutan. Nag-iinuman na palan.

by the way, the pictures were taken 43 pounds ago. Joke lang. Wag mapipikon. We need to lighten up a bit after a very depressing week, not only in the Philippines, but also in Indonesia and Samoa.

Happy birthday Adonis, Baby, Alan, and Men. Let's remember Tony, too on Oct 13

Oscar Wilde's Libel Case Begins (1895)

When the marquess of Queensbury became convinced that his son, Alfred Douglas, was having an affair with Wilde, he began to rail against the author and playwright, publicly accusing Wilde of sodomy, a crime at the time. At Douglas's urging, Wilde sued the marquess for libel. He not only lost the case, but was in turn charged with homosexual offenses and arrested. Henry Robinson Luce (1898)

One of the most powerful—and controversial—figures in the history of US journalism, Luce founded Time magazine in 1923 with former Yale classmate Briton Hadden. It was the first news-weekly in the US and is now the largest. Luce went on to launch a number of other highly successful magazines, including Fortune, Life, and Sports Illustrated.
